My "techy" bull

Well, as those of you who know me know, I love tech gadgets and stuff. Well, now that I finally came into the times and have cable internet, I have been finding all the joys that come with that! haha..

If you love music, then keep reading!

First, a page I just found tonight, http://www.danceage.com/. This site is awesome! Depending on the artist, you can listen to a song or song(s) of artists for free on their site. You can also see some of the latest videos, full length!, for free. (That requires installing an AOL active X control though, so just do this at your own risk).

Now, for listening... How many of you have heard of Winamp? Well, if you haven't, CHECK IT OUT!! www.winamp.com. Download the free player, and get ready to hear "high-defenition" radio! You can listen to online radio stations that sound just like a CD in your computer, that clear and crisp! Plus, most of the stations are advertisement free channels.

Winamp will let you listen to various Shoutcast radio stations. Here is how you find this little jewel... Once you have the player installed (it will require a reboot), start it up, then right click on the face of the player and select the option for Media Library (you can also press ALT + L). There will be a window pop up with a left hand column and a right hand column. In the left side, scroll down until you see Shoutcast Radio, click that. Now, in the right side, at the top, you can select a music genre or search for something specific.

Since I'm a classic rock man, I recommend looking for the radio station named Radio Free Colorado. Now for another secret. When you search for "Radio Free Colorado", it will find 2 different items. If you will scroll across the bottom of the right hand side, there should be a column called Bitrate. You want to double click on the line item with the highest here. So right now, I have clicked on the line with a 320 bitrate versus the other at 64 bitrate. The higher the bitrate, the clearer the sound.

Now, I have also been spreading my musical listening ability (since I'm almost 30, figured it was about time), and I have been listening to some jazz. A good station for jazz that I like is (just copy what I have here and paste it, other wise you will not find it) S K Y . F M

There is a space between each of the letters and the "dot". They have a channel called S K Y . F M - Absolutely Smooth Jazz. Excellent channel I must say.

I will leave you with this. A little jewel for classic movie lovers. You can watch some real b&w classics, sci-fi and horror at www.americafree.tv. All you need is QuickTime version 6 or higher (version 7 plays the best, but it isn't required). To watch them, just click on the letters "QT" under the Unicast column.

Anyway, just some tech stuff, if you have questions, contact my dad!! haha... I will share more as I find it.... Have fun music lovers!
