big pumpkin day

Kaitlyn had her fall field trip to the Cornerstone Kids Ranch in Ada. Randi and I got to go hang out with her for a bit, and we had a good time.

She got to feed some goats, watch a movie about how pumpkins grow, pick her own pumpkin to take home, and even take a trip on a hay ride. She had a blast!!

Extra! Extra! Read all about it!

We have a new member of our family. His name is Kegan "McLovin" Moffat. The kids are so excited, Baxter, not so much. He is a great little puppy and we are so happy to welcome him into our family!

Another tooth, that is! Another big week for Kaitlyn!! Started kindergarten yesterday (which she was so excited to do), and lost tooth number 2 this morning!

Big week for Kaitlyn

Well this has been a big week for Kaitlyn. The week started with losing a tooth and ended with A big hair cut and trip to her first movie theatre. The first trip to a theatre....

Man, seems just like yesterday, my first trip that is. I still remember Grandpa Shaklee picking me up and taking me to see E.T. at the old theater on Main in Stillwater. Haha!!

Anyway, both kids really loved. Dylan made it till about 30 minutes left though and started crying about being hungry! And that is after the popcorn, starbursts and pop he had when we got there!! lol!

Anyway. Fun day in Ada-town.

happy anniversary to my lovely wife

Happy 11th Anniversary Randi!!! I love you more than I will ever be able to show you. Thanks so much for your constant help and support through all the trials in my life. I may not know what is in store for me from day to day with work and school and life in general, but I know this. I know that you always have my back and will always be there when I need you. I also know that you are the greatest mom our two kids could have ever asked for. I can't say how much I appreciate the extra time you spend with them for their extra activities that I am tied up for or buried at school. I can just try my hardest and hope that I can do something every day to let you know how much you mean to me. I love you and am still amazed by you, as much as I was that first night at Eskimo Joes!

Vacation Pics

Jonathan and the kids before the ball game started

The kids at the Fort Worth Zoo with the Flamingos!

The kids at the zoo. I had to take this picture because I have one just like it of me and my brother when we were probably only a few years older than the kids at Frontier City in a Wells Fargo stage coach too. Thought it was pretty cool.

Vacation 2010

Well, our vacation is officially over! We had such a good time. We started our vacation out on Sunday, going to Shawnee to go shopping and get Dylan a BIG BOY BOOSTER Seat!!! Yippee, he is no longer in a car seat! He loves it, he is getting to be such a big boy! Monday morning we left out and headed to Fort Worth, TX. Our first stop, the Fort Worth Zoo. It was great. It was hot, but still not too bad. They had plenty of shade trees throughout the zoo to get cover in, and mister's too. We ate lunch with a crocodile. The cafe we ate in had an aquarium on three sides of it, we had a huge crocodile sitting in shallow water looking at us like he would eat us if he could. It was so cool. The kids had it easy, we rented a double stroller because I had a feeling that one of the kids, Dylan, would not walk all the way around the Zoo, well I was right. Neither of them did, so Jonathan and I did a lot of walking and pushing that day. The zoo was cool and we all had a lot of fun. We swam that night in the pool at the hotel, the kids did not know what to think of the pool. It was a lot deeper and colder than our pool at home. But the kids loved it. The second day we went to the Fort Worth Museaum of Science and History and the National Cowgirl Museaum. We were all a little disappointed with this. Jonathan and I had both been to the Science and History Museaum in the past, granted I went 16 yrs ago and Jonathan about 3 yrs ago. But nothing was the same as it was when we went. It was a lot cooler before. The exhibits were not that great. There was one exhibit, The Energy Blast, it was a 4-D attraction that was pretty cool. The kids didn't quiet know what to think of the moving seats and the splashes of water that kept coming out of the seats in front of us. The other thing there that was cool was the Noble Planetarium. We had Big Bird and Elmo show us around the night sky. The third day we stayed around the hotel, went swimming and basically just relaxed to get ready for that night at the Ballpark at Arlington to watch the Texas Rangers take on the Cleveland Indians. We had really good seats, on the third base side, second level up. You could see the field so good and it was a great experience for the kids and Jonathan to get to enjoy a professional baseball game. We got us some Texas Rangers garb and are ready to go back now. The Rangers one 4 to 3 that night. We stayed the until the 9th ining, thought it would be easier to get out then than after the game when everyone else was trying to leave as well. Thursday we made our way home with one last stop at the Rainforest Cafe at the Grapevine Mall. It was really cool. Dylan did not know what to think about it, but after a bit he was okay with all the animals and the shows every 15 minutes. We were glad to be home, but wished that we had brought the sun with us since it seemed to rain back home the whole time we were gone. We lucked out, it did not rain while we were down there except for about 15 minutes. All in all, we had a great vacation and can't wait to start planning for next years vacation.

T-Ball is Over!

Well our first year of T-Ball for both kids is officially over. Kaitlyn had her last game on Friday and Dylan had his last one last Tuesday. Both kids had lots of fun playing. Kaitlyn can't wait for fall soccer to start. Dylan said he wanted to play soccer too, but now he is rethinking that.
We ended Kaitlyn's season with a Ice Cream Sundae party Monday night at the park. The kids got to ride the train and the carousel. Kaitlyn got a medal for participating in t-ball this year. She is so proud. Dylan got a medal at his game on Tuesday for participating too. We are waiting to see when his party will be.

Jonathan and I went to see The Fray Saturday night at the Wintstar Casino in Thackerville. We went with my friends Susie and Larisa. We had a good time and they put on an excellent concert. Ate at Two Frogs on the way there, which was awesome! I will have to post some pictures and video of the concert. They did so good. Not a lot of people there, but a great concert anyway. We were 7th row from the stage.

We are gearing up for a busy rest of summer. We have decided to take a mini vacation next week. We are going to go down to Fort Worth and stay a few nights. We are going to the Zoo, the Fort Worth Science and History Museam, and going to take the Kids and Jonathan to their first ever Professional Baseball Game. We are going to watch the Texas Rangers play the Cleveland Indians. We just hope the kids don't get bored at the game. It is autograph night and $1.00 hot dog night. Hopefully they will enjoy the game. We are even thinking about stopping at the Rainforest Cafe in Grapevine on our way home to get a bite for lunch. We hope for nice weather and cooperating kids on this trip. The hotel we are staying at has a swimming pool, so maybe the kids can be bribed to be good with the opportunity to get to swim. We hope the 3 hour drive to Fort Worth won't be too much for them, that is why we chose not to go to San Antonio, since it is an 8 hour drive. We will post pictures when we get back.

Everyone have a safe and happy 4th of July!

VBS 2010 Video

Here are the videos of the kids from their 2010 VBS. The first video has, I think, 2 or 3 songs, and the second video has 1 song. Enjoy!!

Video #1

Video #2

VBS 2010

The kids had a great time at Vacation Bible School in Sulphur with Randi's folks. Due to the crazy weather and tons of rain, their t-ball games in Ada were rained out, so they got to spend nearly 4 days with them.

Randi and I got to go over to watch their program Wednesday night. Both of the kids just hopped right up on stage and sang their little hearts out! I was shocked. After helping Dylan with t-ball and watching him be mr. bashful, I really didn't think Dylan would do much. But man, he just jumped right up there and did the dances and sang the songs. Kaitlyn did the same. She stood right their with her brother and just had fun. It was really great.

I took some photos during the program, but they didn't turn out very good. Needed my big brother's camera there I guess. haha... But we did get some video. I will have to see what I can do to finally get that video off the camera and online.

Here are the two of them gearing up for the program.

Let's Play Ball!

Tuesday night was Dylan's second T-ball game of the season. We just have two more to go and he will be done. It was hot and he was not wanting to play at all. But we convinced him to do so anyway. He was third baseman for the second game and did a great job. Didn't get much action on third base, but did well none the less. He did an awesome job hitting the ball. Didn't get out either time. He scored two runs for his team "Blue Bulldogs". It is hilarious to watch this age group play. You have some that will sit and play with the grass, others will lay on the bases. Sometimes when they hit the ball, they will even go get it themselves. It is very comical and fun to watch. Here are some pictures that my friend Susie took. She did a great job, Thank You Susie for coming and taking some pictures.

Just finished a little boating and swimming at arbuckle lake. Had a ball and so did the kids!

Game day

day one for dylan

Dylan went to day one of his 4 week tball run yesterday. And even though it was hot, and his attention span averaged about 3-5 minutes, he still had fun!

His favorite part is batting. His running could use some improvement though, so I will have to train the dog to chase him more! Haha.

Their team name is The Blue Bulldogs. He got his jersey last night and he is number 3!!

So tonight is his first game, so it ought to be fun!

School's Out for Summer!!!!

School is officially out for Kaitlyn! She is a kindergardener now! My how time flies. She had such a good school year. We could not have asked for a better teacher for her to have for her first year of school. Mrs. Wyche was so great with all of the kids and she cared for all of them like they were her own. She was a great teacher and we are going to miss having her teach Kaitlyn. Now it is off to bigger and better things.

Jonathan did good this semester. Walked away with 2 A's like always. He is doing so good in school and I am so proud of him. I know it has to be difficult going to school when you work like he does and then have family too. I am glad he is going back to school to get his degree. I know he can't wait to be done with school.

Luau Day & Grandparent's Day

Friday was the Latta Pre-K annual Luau/Grandparent's day. Kaitlyn got all decked out in a grass skirt, Lei, flower in her hair and flowered shirt. The had a party were Grandparent's came and had pictures taken with the kids. Afterwards, they went to the gym (because it was raining) to have a luau. I know there was some hula hooping going on, but other than that, I am not real sure what else they did at the Luau. Parents were not really welcome, since it was Grandparent's day. My mom came over and went to Kaitlyn's class. Thanks mom for coming over and participating in Kaitlyn's school activity. It meant a lot.

Let's Play Ball!!

Tonight Kaitlyn had her first season t-ball game. The real season opener last week was cancelled as was her game on Friday, all due to the rain and storms. The girls all did pretty good, considering they have not practiced or anything for over a week. They don't keep score, just play for fun. Both teams did really well. Kaitlyn was happy to see my friends Susie and her mom Diana at the game. They came to cheer her on. We were glad they came. Hopefully, the game on Friday will not be cancelled.

On another note, Dylan has his first t-ball practice on Wednesday and his first game next Tuesday. This should be very entertaining to see a bunch of 3 and 4 year olds playing t-ball. The coach thinks they might need more than one practice before they play, I know Dylan will need more than one practice. Oh well, it is all for fun and to give him the experience of playing a team sport. We can't wait to see him play.

Sunday, May 9

Dance Dance Fever!!

To start, I would like to thank everyone who took time out of their busy schedules and mother's day weekend to come and see Kaitlyn in her first ever Dance Recital. It meant a lot to all of us to have you all there. Kaitlyn did such a good job. She wasn't nervous at all. It was a long weekend for us all. Saturday started with pictures at 1 followed by dance rehearsal at 2:30 and first performance at 7. Then Sunday we didn't have to be there until 3. Kaitlyn looked so grown up in all her makeup. She definately did not look like a 5 year old. I am so glad it is over, but happy for Kaitlyn to get to experience this. A great big thanks to Phillip, Tammy, Heather, Austyn, Andrew and Madison for traveling down today. Phillip, I can't wait to see the pictures you took of us and Kaitlyn. The one picture I saw of Kaitlyn was absolutely GORGEOUS!
I want to say a very Happy Mother's Day to my Mom. I love you very much and hope you get better soon. I am glad that you were able to make it to the recital, even though you spent some time in the ER Saturday. It meant so much to Kaitlyn that you and Papaw came to see her.
Also a Happy Mother's Day to Ann, Heather, Tammy, Trish and Grandma Moffat.

Saturday, May 8

big recital night

Tonight is the first night of Kaitlyn's recital. She is very excited tonight. I am really shocked at the number of people pouring into the activity center. Should be a fun night.

Operation Turtle Freedom

Tonight Kaitlyn, Susie, Zeus and myself all participated in Operation Turtle Freedom! Kaitlyn decided that she wanted to let her turtle free. So we went to my bosses house and his daughter Susie took us out to their pond where we let "Daisy"(the male turtle) go. We put him down and off he swam in the water, then made his way to a brush pile nearby. Kaitlyn was ok with the whole process. Me on the other hand hated to let him go. He would let you pet him on the head. Wouldn't even hide when the kids came around. We know he is better off in the wild and as Kaitlyn said, "now he is with his friends!". That concluded Operation Turtle Freedom. Until next time!

and another semester ends

A semester of headaches and late nights just came to an end for struggling student and web development manager Jonathan Moffat.

His two classes this semester, Program/Operations Management and Financial Management, were two very core classes to his future degree. They were also reportedly two of the most interesting and eye-opening courses he can recall taking since starting back to college in 2006.

"I learned a lot this semester about the basics of operating a business that I didn't know", stated Mr. Moffat. "I had no idea that the basic business decisions and operations could be broken down to simple mathematics and analytics".

Jonathan plans to spend a relaxing summer not worrying about school, but instead enjoying time with his lovely wife and two kids. "I just really want to enjoy some outdoor activities and traveling with my family. I think we are planning to hit a zoo somewhere and then there is always t-ball".

Jonathan plans to continue on his path to his degree by taking two more classes next semester. But until then, it looks like some summertime fun in
the sun for this college kid.

happy birthday madison!!

Happy, happy, happy birthday Madison!! We hope you have a GREAT 5th birthday!

God Bless America!

Today Kaitlyn had Olympic day at school. They competed in different activities such as hula hoop, 25 yd dash, baseball throw, etc. To top it all off, they had a turtle race.
We found two turtles for her to take to school and the kids loved having them around so much, that when it came time to release them into the wild, Kaitlyn couldn't do it. Needless to say, we still have a turtle here at our house, but I told her that we have to let it go into the wild in a couple days. Kaitlyn got 3rd place in the hula hoop contest. She got a medal and a ribbon. It was pretty neat.
The class all sang "God Bless America" and did such a wonderful job.

Sunday, May 2

spring-time sunday

Well Randi has been hard at it today. Here is a sample of her magical skills with flowers. This is a project that was a long time coming, but worth the wait. It looks awesome!!

She also fixed up some neat potted plants for the rock garden in the back yard. I am waiting until I get a chance to put more rock in it for a photo. Looks pretty awesome though!!

Then after the plants and flowers, she made a killer batch of fajitas!! They were top notch!

After that she practiced with Kaitlyn's hair for her dance performance. Me and Dylan just like to laugh! Haha

Then she even had enough energy left to make up a special batch of Rice Crispy treats for Kaitlyn's Olympic Day at school tomorrow.

Needless to say, the kids are feeling a little better. Dylan's last high temp was early this morning. So maybe after 6 days of fever we are over it. Kaitlyn's eye is pretty red this morning. But we started her on the drops last night so should not be contagous as of her last dose of them tonight. Ready for them to be healthy again!!

Double elimination

Well we had our second game of the t-ball tournament this morning. Unfortunately, we lost that game. The girls got a break before their next game and we played the team that we beat last night. We lost that game too, so we are out of the tournament. The girls played so good, everyone is proud of them. Kaitlyn did really well. She started out on 3rd base, but because she was not paying attention, they stuck her in the outfield. Hopefuuly, with enough practice, she can regain her spot on third. We have practice twice next week, Kaitlyn's dance recital next weekend and her season opener for t-ball on Monday the 10th. Gonna be a busy week and weekend for us all again. Looking forward to seeing those that are coming to Kaitlyn's recital next weekend.

Tonight's gonna be a good night!

Kaitlyn had her first t-ball game tonight, and they WON!!!! The score was 19 to 12. Way to go Cactus Cuties!! You all did a great job. So, we play the next game in the tournament tomorrow at 10 and depending how they do, we will have a full day tomorrow. There is a team they will play that is all girls from Kaitlyn's school. Hopefully Kaitlyn will focus on the game and not focus on talking to her friends from school. I can tell this is going to be a lot of fun for Kaitlyn and all of us. I get a little carried away ( I get that from my mom! Love you), but other than that we have a great time. Kaitlyn is enjoying this even though this is just her first game.
On another note, Kaitlyn woke up this morning with a red eye. Called the doc and he put her on antibiotics and prescribed eye drops for pink eye for both kids. This is just great. Both kids on antibiotics and eye drops.
We will keep you guys posted on their progress tomorrow. Hopefully all the girls will play their little hearts out and have a great time.

Thursday, April 29

Sitting in line...

I am sitting in line to get dance recital tickets. I am #7, yippee! Hopefully I can get good seats for those that are coming.
We have a sick little boy on our hands. He has been running fever since Monday night, with a deep cough. Took him to see the doctor today and Dylan has strep throat and strep in his eye. Hopefully the antibiotics will kick it. Although I have never heard of getting strep in your eye.
I want to say a big Thank You to my uncle Jeff and Mom. They put together an excellent dinner last night. It was great to get to see my Great Aunt Kathleen and Great Uncle and Aunt Bob and Helen. As well as everyone else that was. Wish we could have been together under different circumstances, but still good to see them.

Kaitlyn's T-ball Tournament

We found out today that Kaitlyn's T-ball tournament starts this Friday at 7. We are not sure of her schedule for the rest of the weekend. She is so excited to get to play in her first game.

Dylan is at my parents tonight. We got home from T-ball practice last night and he started coughing and running a fever. Ran fever all night and a low grade one today. So mom volunteered to take him home with her so we don't have to miss work tomorrow. I am so thankful that my parents are able to take care of the kids when we need them to.

Kaitlyn is in bed, Baxter has gotten a much needed bath and now Jonathan and I are just relaxing watching some Parenthood. What a great way to end a long day.

Monday, April 26

Busy month coming up

There has been a lot going on since our last post. Kaitlyn is almost done with her first year of school. Then we will have a kindergartener on our hands. Kaitlyn's dance recital is coming up the weekend of mother's day. We are looking forward to seeing our little girl dance her heart out. She has been working so hard and is excited for everyone to come see her dance. We have both kids signed up for t-ball. Right now Kaitlyn practices on Monday and Friday. Her games will be on those days as well. Her first tournament is this weekend. We can't wait. Dylan will start t-ball on the 25th and his games will be on Tuesday for four weeks. This should be pretty comical to see a bunch of 3 and 4 year olds play ball. Jonathan is almost done with school. Next week is finals week for him and I think he can't wait for it to be over. As for me, I have just been working and running these kids wherever they need to go. Jonathan and I have spent the last two weekends working on our flower beds getting them ready to plant. We built a rock garden in the back, mainly so Baxter wouldn't dig in the dirt, but it looks great. We went looking for some big rocks around the neighborhood and put those in there. Hopefully this weekend between all the stuff we have going, I can get some plants planted. Until next time....

meet the new member

That is right. The Nuthouse has added a new member to the family. His name is Baxter and he is an adorable little Coton de Tulear (if I spelled it correctly). He is about 15-16 weeks old.

As you can imagine, the kids have taken to him like white on rice! Kaitlyn feels that she must carry him around and his feet can't touch the floor! Haha.

Dylan, who I thought would be a little apprehensive around the new guy, spent last night carrying him around and laying on the couch with him. Randi has a photo, so I will have to get her to post it.

But anyway, that wraps it up for now. Well, the only other thing to allow is that we ate battling a diarreah/vomiting bug with Dylan. But he is going to the docs office this morning, so hopefully we will find out what is up. But so far through all of it, no fever (knock on wood).

Friday, January 29

late january winter storm

Just wanted to share several photos I took of the storm. Have to give props to my older brother for the suggestions of the awesome apps to work the photos with. It is really cool now that I am figuring some of them out.

Anyway, we decided to not risk the chance of power loss at our house, so we headed to Randi's folks to dodge that. They were just about 30 or so miles south-ward from our house, but it is night and day when it comes to the ice.

But Randi and I decided to test the road gods and head home this afternoon to check on the house. That is the photo of the branches on the ground below. There were two pretty good size branches that fell out of our pine tree right by Kaitlyn's room. But other than that, just snow and ice. Oh, and yes, cold! haha..

Anyway, will be heading home tomorrow morning and get the house stuff done hopefully. The roads should be ok from Sulphur to Hwy 1. But that highway is usually pretty rough, and it had its slick spots this afternoon. But that is all I have for now. Everyone stay safe out there!

crazy kids

Well the kids are most definitely growing into their own finally.

Dylan has now slept in his bed for 3 nights, the whole night!! Used to it was his bed till 1 or 2, then into mommy and daddy's bed. As you might imagine, that also meant no sleep for mommy and daddy. So this whole night in his bed thing is pretty awesome right now.

Kaitlyn is still doing really good in school. Her teacher even sent us a postcard about how good she has been. Kind of makes you feel good. And the icing on the cake (at the moment) is she has her first really good friend. And she has got to go to her house and play several times now! And what makes it even better is that I work with her friend's dad. Haha.

So I have discovered that when you know the other kid's parents, it sure makes life easier. Well, actually better than that, is that they live just about a 1/4 mile from us. That part we didn't know, but we like! Haha.

We hit the town tonight and had a little Santa Fe for dinner. So now we are home just trying to let the dinner settle and let the kids calm down a bit before we ring the bedtime bell. Hopefully we will be in for night #4 of Dylan in his own bed. I have my fingers and toes crossed!! lol

Thursday, January 7

funny purchase and funny kids

Most of you know that I am a sucker for wierd books. You can just look at my collection of Jim Morrison books, William Blake, The Prairie Traveler's Guide, The Man Book, and the list goes on.

Well, I have a new addition to the shelf. It is the Complete Rolling Stones Discography. It is 400+ pages of all Stones' albums and every song. For each album, it talks about what was going on with the band, the label, and just musical culture.

And then it has little interesting tidbits about each song. Very, very cool!!

And just for fun, to try and cheer me up since I start school tomorrow, we decided to dress the kids up in their cowboy/cowgirl garb. They were just so darn cute!! See for yourself.
