always a flower girl...

noname1.jpgWhich is fine with us! haha... Kaitlyn was at it once again, walking the isle as a flower girl, and we are thinking she likes it more every time. This time it was for Randi's cousin's wedding. After she got her dress on, I asked her what her name was and she told me Kaitlyn Cinderella. She loves it.

This is a pic from the wedding. I can't believe we didn't think to take our camera, but we didn't. This is a pic from Randi's camera phone. We will try to get our hands on any others that may be out there.

happy birthday mom!!

Here is wishing a very happy birthday to my mom.  Hope it has been a great day mom.  And the kids wish you a happy birthday too!  We love you!

one more semester in the bag

That is correct, one more semester down, just about 20 to go! haha..  Hopefully not that many!

I wrapped up my finals Wednesday morning about 11:55.  So now I get to wait until next Wednesday to get my grades.  That is the part I don't like, waiting for the grades.  It just leaves you on pins and needles until they come in.  But I think I did ok.

Now I have to start getting ready for next semester.  I won't have to go to campus, since I found two classes that are online.  I am taking World Music, which will finish off one of my gen ed categories, and Principles of Marketing which counts towards my MIS degree.  So not much to do during the day, but I guess there is more work at home and on weekends.

dylan's cake eating fun

I was finally able to get the video pulled from the camera.  So now everyone can enjoy the fun of watching Dylan eating his little bday cake.  He was a little slow at the beginning, but she picks up speed as he figures out that it really tastes good!

Dylan's Cake Eating Fun video (~14.5 Mb WMV file).

happy birthday randi!

Today is my lovely wife's birthday!  Happy birthday honey! The kids and I hope you have had a great day and hope you have a great evening.

So if you happen to be on your email tonight you might drop her a little happy birthday note.  She is awesome and I wouldn't be where I am at today without her.  She is a wonderful woman.

The kids and I love you honey!

another big birthday today

HAPPY BIRTHDAY AUSTYN!!  We hope you have an awesome birthday and a fun birthday party!  Next year we will get it worked out so we can do Dylan's and still make it to your party.  We love you Austyn!

dylan's birthday party

We had a pretty good time at Dylan's birthday party. He got some neat things and some nice clothes! The cake was very good too. Thanks to everyone that was able to make it! I used the video camera to record him tearing his cake up. So I will have to get it pulled next week so everyone can see it.
Here are some photos to look at from the party though. Enjoy!

dylan's b-day pics

Just wanted everyone to know that I will have some birthday pics from Dylan's party uploaded as soon as it is over.  So watch for them!

happy 1st birthday Dylan Scott!!

Today, Nov. 29th, is big Dylan's 1st birthday!  We love you Dylan!

doctor day

Since Dylan's birthday is quickly approaching, Randi was planning on taking him to the doctor for his 1 year check up.  But instead of one, she got to take both kids.  Kaitlyn has been telling us her ear hurts all the time.  So Randi took her and Dylan today to have both of them looked at.

Good news though!  Neither kid is sick or has ear infections.  Thanks goodness!  Dylan still sounds weezy.  Which I am like "uh, yea...".  haha..

But Dylan did really good.  He even walked from Randi to the doctor and then hopped up and sat in his lap.  He is definitely not going to be a shy one.  Then as they were leaving, Randi put Dylan down to write the check and Dylan took off crawling behind the reception desk and right over to the doctor.  So I guess Dylan has a friend.

So now for the check up news.  Today Mr. Dylan weighs 23lbs and is 29 inches long.  So he is growing good.

have fun and help at the same time

What is better than doing something that is kind of fun, yet at the same time, helping people all over the world?  I will tell you, it is www.freerice.com.

My econ professor told us about this site today in class, and he is right, it is rather addictive.  The premise of the site is that you play a basic vocabulary game.  For each correct answer, you win 10 grains of rice that are donated to a group within the United Nations to help end world hunger.  True, 10 grains isn't much, but when you figure that people all over the world are playing it, and that it is rather addictive, it adds up quickly.  On their site they show the total grains that will be donated and currently the number is 2,628,006,040!!

So help out others and have a little fun.  The address again is www.freerice.com.

sunday afternoon fun

Check out the photos from our trip to the Roff Veteran's Park Sunday afternoon.

And then to top the day off, the little man took his first BIG STEP!! He had a hold of Randi's foot, let go and took a step over and grabbed on to the ottoman. He is da man!! What a day!

picture day

As Christmas time approaches, you know it is time for the family Christmas photo.  It is kind of funny, because I don't remember doing that much at all growing up, but now I feel like every year we have to make sure to get the family portrait taken care of.  But I guess when you have two cheesy kids like we have then it is kind of fun.

Kaitlyn has managed to befriend the  lady at WalMart that takes the photos.  She has had the same lady for the last 2 or 3 times she went it.  But that lady just loves Kaitlyn.  And Dylan, man, that kid can smile!  It is so cute!  So we will have those in a few weeks to send out to everyone.

But until then, her are a couple shots that I took this morning while getting them ready.  Unfortunately, Dylan only likes to smile for the big camera I guess. haha..

the big haircut

Well the day finally came. Dylan's hair finally got too long. So today he got his first haircut. Randi is going through a mother's withdraw of her son's long hair, but I think it looks really good on him.

She said that the lady that did it started with the sides and for a brief moment he had a mullet! Thank goodness she kept going so we didn't have that! haha..

Here are some before and after photos for your enjoyment.

crazy morning

This post is a bit delayed but I thought better late than never.

I think this was around Oct. 26th. It was the night I woke up with my terrible stomach pain that kept me down all day and led to me getting my gallbladder removed.

Well, on the 26th of October, it was about 4:45 or 5am, somewhere in that time frame. I was sitting in our kitchen drinking my third glass of water after taking about 4 Tums. All of a sudden I heard this terrible screeching, crashing, banging sound. It only lasted about a second or two it seemed and then was over. My initial thought was "a plane crashed!", since that is how people describe the sound.

So I walked around the house peeking out the windows, but I didn't see anything, so I started thinking that maybe I just was hearing things. Well, about 10 minutes later I started hearing sirens. So that is when I thought, "something happened I guess".

Well the morning went on and Randi and the kids got around and left. About 8:30 I decided to see if I could even drive around the block or if the pain was going to be too much. I headed down to main street and there it was. Tons of highway patrol cars, police cars and fire trucks. Sure enough, something did happen. What that something was, was a big rig that didn't make the sharp turn on the Roff main street, hit a concrete barrier, flipped on its side and slide through a guys garage!! Here is a picture of it after they had it sitting back up. When I drove by it was still on its side though.

original.jpg

It was, and still is a big mess. They went ahead and finished tearing down the garage. Just in case people are like me and want to read the story, you can read it here.

Tuesday, November 13

i think i am finally done

Well, I accomplished what I never thought I could do.  I survived a root canal.  Yes, me.  The man that hasn't been to the dentist in SO MANY YEARS!  But just three days after having my gallbladder removed, I headed to the dentist this morning.  Sat back in the chair, sucked in that gas and held on.

Ok, so it wasn't that bad. haha..  The only pain I have had to this point was just when he gave me the shot in the top of my mouth.  Now that one made me tear up! haha..  But once everything was numb and the gas kicked in a bit, I didn't feel anything but the pulling and pushing on my head.  Now when I had to write the check after I experienced some slight pain in my wallet! lol...

As for my gallbladder surgery.  Well, I am still feeling better each day.  Today I had some pain in my ab area.  I think from picking Dylan up a few times the night before.  I just know when I went to get up this morning, it hurt until I sort of stretched a little bit.  But I am just ready to get the staples out.  At home I try not to put any bandaids on them, but then I keep hitting them with my arm or they hit the side of the couch while I'm doing homework and that sort of hurts.

Saturday, November 10

another day down

Well, I made it another day.  The pain level was way way way higher today, especially after Randi and the kids got home.  I have this crazy thing where I like to help all the time so I did some stuff with them that I probably shouldn't have.  I am really feeling it now!

But it was nice to wake up this morning and not have the whole cloudy headed thing from yesterday.  The pain meds make me a little dizzy, but at least I can remember things.  It is kind of funny, but there are bits and pieces from yesterday that I don't remember.  Things like calling my dad twice, the car ride home from the hospital, picking up my meds on the way home, just things like that.

Anyway, I am still doing better.  Just wanted to let you all know that.

Friday, November 9

it comes and goes

Well, the big surgery day has no been completed. I am a little sore because I have to get up and pee like every five seconds it seems. I guess that is what happens when you go without water all day and then drink a whole bunch when you get home.

I wanted to say thank you to my mom and sister and also Randi's folks for coming and seeing me at the hospital. That really meant a lot to me. I know that it was just a small surgery, but for me, it was a gigantic ordeal!

There isn't a whole lotta pain right now, just some tenderness and I can still feel the air that they pumped in my stomach. The air they pumped in made my stomach like a tent so they could do the laparoscopic surgery. I was suppposed to end up with 3-4 small holses, but I just counted and there are 5 for me. This is probably due in part to the fact that they found a rather large (size of the end of your pinky)stone in the bile duct. So had I told him to hold off on the surgery, I could have ended up in msome major major pain very soon!!I think though, the worst part I experienced in the hospital the whole time was when the RN blew out 2 of my veins when trying to get my IV started. But the third time was the charm I guess. But I have some swelling and bruising on my right wrist where she tried to start the IV.

So other than that and being extremely tire. So I am going to get to sleep so i be somewhat functional. I guess now it is on to the root canal! Woo hoo!!

Thursday, November 8

the big day is almost here

Well, tomorrow is the big day.  I have to report to the hospital at noon.  So not as early as I would like to do it, but as long as I can get this done, then I will be happy.  Then once I get through next Tuesday I will be on easy street! haha...

Anyway, I am just trying to calm myself down so I can try to get me some sleep tonight.  I will see you all on the other side!!

Tuesday, November 6

going-ons

Well, it has been pretty crazy around here lately.  But most recently, I have started having some pain in my stomach.  Well, though the main cause was probably the antibiotics I was on, it led to the doctor finding that the walls of my gallbladder are thickening.

I met with the surgeon this afternoon to get the results of the gallbladder scan and ultrasound they did last week.  Well, it was somewhat up to me, but he said that he could tell by the results of the ultrasound that it has been progressing for some time now.  So as it gets thicker, I will start experiencing more and more issues.  So, I decided to just have the dang thing taken out.

So this Friday I am going into Valley View Regional Hospital to have my "little" surgery - so everyone is calling it.  I know it isn't a big surgery, but if you watch tv any, you may have seen the preview for the new movie Awake.  Well, it is about anesthesia awareness.  Needless to say, I am very paranoid about that! haha..

So that is Friday, then Saturday and Sunday I am not to do anything.  Then I have to go to class Monday and then Tuesday I go for my root canal at 8:30 in the morning!  So I am just getting it all done.

Thursday, November 1

halloween fun

I hope that everyone had a great Halloween night.  We actually got to have two fun nights.

In the papers down here, they said that Roff was doing the Treak or Treating on Tuesday night along with Ada.  Well, Kaitlyn got all dressed up and ready to go, but the town was dead.  Randi even drove her around, but nobody was giving out candy.  So Wednesday night, after we got her over her fear of "monsters", Randi got to take her around to some of our neighbors.  She had a really good time.  Here are a couple pictures of our little angle.

the big birthday day

One more big happy birthday to Kaitlyn!

10-23-07_1825_1.jpg 10-23-07_1827_1.jpg

We took her to Applebee's for her birthday dinner. And as usual, she didn't eat anything. She did eat just a little of her desert, but not much.  And when they came to sing with her the birthday song she didn't climb under the table and hide, like she did at our house.  She actually sat up, but she wouldn't look at them.  It was pretty funny.
She also went to see the doctor this morning for her three year check up. And all looks good! We love to hear that! The doc said she weighed 31lbs. And if she keeps growing at the same rate she will grow to be about 5'4", which is fine with us. However, I am wondering if baby brother is maybe going to shoot up over her a bit. But I could be wrong.

happy birthday to our little kaitlyn

Happy Birthday Kaitlyn!

IMG_5728_1.jpg  IMG_5697_1.jpg

I would like to thank everyone that was able to make it to Kaitlyn's birthday party.  We had a really good time and so did Kaitlyn.  And those that weren't able to make it, we missed you!  She is really enjoying all her new toys and clothes.  You can check out the photos from the Sunday afternoon party in our Photo Gallery (http://www.jonandrandi.com/gallery2/main.php?g2_itemId=4710).

too bad he doesn't get fired up on the field like this

I know that most people reading this blog are from around the Stillwater area, so I am sure you have heard and probably seen all this.  But for those of you that haven't, you have to watch it!  This is the Mike Gundy interview regarding a newspaper article that was written about their quarterback decisions.  Under the video is a link to the article from the Oklahoman.

The article

Anyway, just thought I would send this along.  Did he have the right to get this fired up?  Well, that isn't my call.  But I do like seeing him defend the team like he did.

just enough juice for pics

mms.0709150935220.jpg

Dylan naps after pics at Wal-Mart. Dylan and Kaitlyn had their photos taken this morning with the friendly lady at Wal-Mart.  They both did really good, with full smiles and everything.  It took a bit to get Kaitlyn going though.  Well, it took about 2 care bears and watching Dylan getting his photo taken.  Then Katilyn decided that maybe it wouldn't be to bad.  Dylan's looked a little funny.  His little nose is running so we had to clean it so he has a little red nose in each of his photos.  Anyway, we should have them sometime around the first or second week of October.

big weekend

This past weekend we had the chance to attend the wedding of Kody Riggs (Randi's cousin) and Matt Wittwer.  It was a really nice ceremony and things went of really nicely.

Well, almost.  It had rained a lot in Stillwater prior to the wedding, so they had to get plywood to make a sort of isle out of.  However, these werent' attached end-to-end very well.  Then they laid down carpet over that.  So as Kaitlyn was walking down, she first lost a shoe.  So she turned around to get that one, then turned back around and saw me.  So then she started running towards me saying that lost her shoe.  Then she caught her toe on the end of one of the sheets of plywood and went down.  So then she started crying and it was all over.  So she spent the rest of the wedding sitting by Randi.

The reception was extravagent!  From the large ice carving of a 'W' to the ice bowls with flowers frozen in them to hold the shrimp, all the way to the mashed potatoe bar and the free domestic beer, it was awesome!  I think everyone had a really great time (I liked the free beer!).  But Kaitlyn and Randi danced some and then Kaitlyn and I did some dancing, and then all three of us hit the dance floor.  It was good times!

Check out some photos from the reception in our photo gallery (http://www.jonandrandi.com/gallery2/main.php?g2_itemId=4604).

Also I came across some misc photos that I have taken over the past few weeks, so I thought I would post them here.

done (again)

Well, I made it through the first week of school again.  And I only had to miss 1 day! haha... I guess I didn't hide from all the sickness going around well enough.

I ended up getting a stomach bug, and well, I didn't think I would be able to make it across campus, so I had to miss 1 day.

But I think it should be an ok semester.  But only time (and grades) will show.. lol...

t-shirt idea

This is a t-shirt idea that Harley came up with for me. This will be for when I get my Jmo site up and running, which is on hold at the moment due to school and work. But anyway, take a look at it and see what you think.

jmotee.jpg

From Harley at www.harleylewis.com.

and it begins again

Yes it does.  It is like something that can't be escaped!  As much as you want it to go away, you know that you have to stay.

SCHOOL!

I started back to school this morning.  I'm taking Speech and Micro Econ.  I think it will not be too difficult.  However, the prof I have for Micro Econ seems to give about the hardest test I have ever taken.  My Speech prof is also the director of the theatre department.  So he is a bit out there.  But pretty darn funny.

So if I can just find a parking place closer than a mile away from campus then I will be on easy street! haha..

old phonograph

mms.0708192141390.jpg

This is an old Edison Standard Phonograph that Randi's folks came across while going through Randi's grandparents stuff for the estate sale last weekend. The best part is that it actually works! The only thing they have to do is to replace the needle and it should work. They have the horn and everything. It is really neat!

awesome shirt ideas

I don't know how I ended up there, but there is a site called Busted Tees that makes just funny shirts. Or at least I think they are funny. And one of them is of an idea that I posted earlier that Harley had drawn on my board!

busy weekend

Randi and I helped her family with her grandparent's estate/garage sale.  It was a busy two days.  Friday started at about 5:30 am (getting my butt out of bed that is).  Her uncle said that there were people waiting to get in the shop at about 6:30 and the sale didn't start until 7!  So needless to say, a vast majority of the items went out on Friday.

Saturday Randi took the kids and went over to help while I did the house work  and grocery shopping for us.  And from what Randi said, the majority of what was left was gone that day.  So the family did really well in getting a lot of the stuff moved.  And there was some really nice items!

It seems as though we might have everybody over their sicknesses (I hope).  So maybe things will calm down just a bit.  But now I have to start school this week.  Normally I would be somewhat looking forward to it, but this semester is going to be tough.  My boss is going to be out for a month starting this week, I still have two developers out and the office building we are in keeps flooding.  So what a great time to try to be thinking of studying! haha...

Thursday, August 16

just fiddling

First, thanks for the news in your comment on the previous post! Yes, DKM releasing a new album is awesome! I can't wait to hear it!

On another note, I am playing with a new site. That is right, as if you don't have enough to look at online everyone, soon you will be able to visit jmo.jonandrandi.com. Don't try to hit it yet, there is nothing there. Heck, the sub-domain doesn't even exist yet.

This is going to be my personal site for my portfolio, resume, mobile blog and lab. The lab I am pretty excited about. I am going to try and get back into programming. I would like to get up-to-speed on Wordpress too, and be able to build my own plugins. Right now it is just a time thing. In that I have none!

But I am showing off just a template that I have been playing with today. It will feature the logo that The Awesome Harley Lewis created for me. So I am really stoked. Anyway, not sure on a release date or anything. This is one of those things that I will work on in my "spare time". Which right now is about 5 or so minutes per week! haha... Later all!

template1.jpg

the house of the sick

Well it has been really fun this week.  It seems that just about everyone has been sick, except me (knock on wood!)

Randi was down for several days with strep throat, Dylan was up at nights and coming home with fever from day care with an ear infection that we have cleared up now,  and now Kaitlyn has some viral "thing" that is going around that gives the kids fever and a hurt stomach for several days before it goes away.

So I guess it is true what they say, when it rains it pours.  Me, well, I haven't felt too bad yet.  However, I figure it is just a matter of time! haha....

From what we can tell, this is a 1973 Kimball. This piano belonged to Randi's grandma, and she kept it in very good shape.

rubber car video 2

This is the second video in the collection.  For this one, I placed my hand that was holding the phone on the wheel, so the phone was shaking like crazy!

Anyway, I thought these were kind of cool, so I thought I would put them on here (well, in YouTube actually).

i just kill me sometimes, awesome rubber car!

So I was driving home yesterday at about 65 miles an hour and my arms were about to fall off becuase my steering wheel was shaking so much that I thought it was going to break off.

I had a tire (front driver side) fixed. Well, they decided to swap the front and back tires on the same side. Needless to say, NOT A GOOD DEAL! At about 70 mph, it felt like the front tires were actually bouncing off the road! Anyway, I thought "this is kind of cool, I need to record this!"

So what do you know, I did. :) haha.. What turned out was really pretty cool! Do you remember back when you were younger and you discovered the cool rubber pencil deal? It is where if you hold a pencil by the end and shake it rapidly up and down it looks like it bends. Well, in this video, my arm with the watch was holding the wheel and shaking rapidly. My other hand (not shaking) was holding the camera phone. Thus, giving a cool "rubber" effect. This is video 1 of 2. Now watch it severel times to realy get a feel for it. If you look around my hand you will notice I haven't slowed the video down or anything (looking at the landscape going by).

fun office stuff

As some of you know, I work with this crazy cat named Harley Lewis (www.harleylewis.com). Harley is a designer/artist/guitarist/signer/songwriter/illustrator/(and I am sure I am forgetting some).

Here is a little of his work to give you a good laugh.

This one I will call "The Pacifist's Keyboard".

bm-image-731193.jpe

This one, well, my nickname around here is "Jmo" as you might have guessed by some of the links on the site. And you know, EVERYBODY needs their own corporate identity!

bm-image-741543.jpe

He is actually going to work this up in Illustrator so I can use it! How awesome is that!! haha..

Now for those of you that are laughing, trust me, this guy is good! Just check out his portfolio stuff on his site! (harleylewis.com)

watch for falling debris

As you may have noticed, things are going a bit nuts on the site right now.  One's first thought would be "man, they are having some bad server screw-ups!"  However, that is not the case.  The problem is a web developer runs this site! haha..

On occasion I try to mix things up a bit and make this site more interesting, however, in doing so I tend to mess things up.  So you should be able to access all the neat stuff that was here before, but as you are checking all that stuff out, I am trying to add new stuff to.

So from time to time you might access this site and get "Page Cannot Be Displayed", but don't loose heart, just know that it is me...  playing away!

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY RANDI

Happy Anniversary baby!

That is correct folks.  After 8 years she still loves me! haha...  And I love her just as much as the day we got married.  This lovely woman has put up with more than her share of my crap, and amongst all that, she managed to turn out two pretty awesome kids.

Here is hoping for at least another awesome 8 years with you honey.  I love you so much!

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!!

And it is done

Well, went and got my car this afternoon.  And they did it, they managed to fit ALL the dang charges on that they could.  Even a listing for "Misc" for $10.00.  So I guess that is their way of getting their cake and eating it too.  So again, if you have a focus from 2000-2003, GET RID OF IT!

What really sucked is that my almost $440.00 repair came with nothing extra for my troubles.  When we take Randi's car in to get the freakin' oil changed at the Saturn dealership in OKC they give her a complimentary car wash and a complimentary bottle of water! haha...  It is a matter of principle!  After that much damn money, you would think they could vacuum the car or wash it or something.  Anyway, I am done with Fords now.  I really like the Saturn customer service, and from what I have dealt with them, Toyota is really good at customer service.  Who knows.  Ok, done for now.. haha..  Later!
